Villa Saengootsa

Villa Saengootsa, a luxury private villa in Kamala, Phuket, managed by Shibumi Services

Six bedrooms, and the most contemporary house on the estate. It was decorated by the architect who designed the estate’s villas, and it shows: a Scandinavian palette of blonde wood and clean line, then maximalist art thrown against it. Double height living areas open through floor to ceiling glass onto the Andaman, with modular seating that moves to suit the group and an oversized communal table by the kitchen. A glass bottomed infinity pool sits above a wide barbecue terrace facing the sunset. The garden level is built for company: an open plan bar joined to a media room, plush seating, a full entertainment system, a pool table beside it. The master occupies the bottom corner with a wraparound terrace and an outdoor jacuzzi. A live-in chef and butler are resident, with a villa concierge on site daily.

What this villa asks of us

Saengootsa carries a public reputation, so the margin for a bad guest experience is thin. Rihanna stayed here on her 2013 world tour and posted it to the world as paradise, and the house has since appeared in Architectural Digest Mexico, Gentleman and Fahrenheit. Shibumi manages it to the standard that history demands: meticulous maintenance, a named and stable team, and discretion for guests who value privacy.
